Aberystwyth
General Information
Aberystwyth is located in the Ceredigion region of Wales, United Kingdom and is a popular little university town; filled with students for most of the year. Not much change has happened to the promenade area through the years with beautiful gabled hotels still in evidence. The town is located at the joining of the Ystwyth and Rheidol rivers, although it is only the Rheidol river that actually flows through the town.
During the summer months the Vale of Rheidol Railway runs approximately 12 miles (19 kms) to Devil's Bridge, which is the location of a series of picturesque waterfalls. The Electric Cliff Railway is the longest electric cliff railway in Britain and ascends Constitution Hill from the promenade running during the Spring and Summer.
Aberystwyth although a fairly isolated town, is a major tourist destination with many things to do and see, one of which is the Arts Centre. This is one of the largest and busiest arts centres in Wales, holding a 900 seat concert hall, cinema, galleries and studio, along with a cafe and bar.
