Perth
General Information
Perth is located in the Highland region of Scotland, United Kingdom and has a rich heritage which is reflected in many of its buildings. Surrounded by fertile agricultural land and attractive scenery, Perth was Scotland’s capital for several centuries. The city has always been one of the most important commercial centres in Scotland.
Situated on the main train lines north from Edinburgh and Glasgow Perth is easily accessible by rail and is well connected by bus. The city centre is compact and easily explored on foot, with two large areas of green parkland ideal for picnics and relaxing.
Scotland’s longest river, the Tay runs serenely alongside Perth providing plenty of good spots for some culinary delights.
Historically many of the Scottish kings were crowned on the Stone of Destiny at Scone Palace with a rich and influential history that dates back more than 800 years. Today Perth’s strong economy is enhanced by its diversity, with a good balance of large companies, public sector, manufacturing and self-employed business people.
