General Information
Edinburgh is located in the Highland region of Scotland, United Kingdom, and is the capital city of Scotland. It is the second most populated city in the country and the seventh populated in the United Kingdom.
Edinburgh is renowned for its festivals such as the Edinburgh International Festival and The Fringe, the largest international arts festival in the world. Tourism is a major income source for the city, attracting over one million tourists each year.
Edinburgh is a splendid cultural mix of a city, perched on a series of extinct volcanoes. The city centre has two distinct areas: New Town and Old Town, divided by Princess Street Gardens. The compact city centre is easily explored on foot with most of the towns attractions located here.
With the presence of three universities along with several colleges Edinburgh retains a youthful vibrant atmosphere for most of the year.
