General Information

Builth Wells is located in the scenic Powys county of Wales in the United Kingdom.  Known for its leading event of the year, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show.  During this time the town hustles and bustles with those from near and far.  It is the largest agricultural show in Wales and is extremely popular across the country.

Historically the town can be traced back to Norman times based on the original motte and bailey castle constructed by the Norman Lord Philip de Braose.  The castle today is nothing but a mound having been destroyed centuries ago, but is still a pretty area filled with historical value.  There are many historical Churches and places of worship in the town which draw tourists attention.

Builth Wells has an extensive range of traditional British shops specialising in arts and crafts, along with great restaurants and cafes serving delicious fare.  There are no big shopping malls or retail parks in the town as it sticks more with the traditional which gives the town its quaint and relax feel.

Builth Wells is an excellent stop-over for avid hikers and nature lovers.  There are many walks and trails covering the countryside including the Wye Valley Walk and Wye Valley Cycle Trail which criss-crosses the scenic landscape.  Sitting neatly at the junction of the northern and southern National Cycle Route 8, Builth Wells is ideal for cycle routes as well.
